the Red Death and Prince Prospero

This afternoon I reread Edgar Allan Poe's The Mask of the Red Death, in which I saw the name of a familiar place, Prospero, which reminded me of Magnus's home planet, and there seems to be a multitude of imagery in the novel that can be matched to Magnus and his astartes legion.

The Red Death, a plague that ravaged Prospero

Perhaps corresponds to the genetic defect that has plagued the Fifteenth Legion - the Flesh Change

Prince Prospero

No doubt this points to Magnus and his Prospero home planet.

The thousand friends who hid in the house with the Prince

Think of the name of the Fifteenth Legion-Thousand Sons

The first room the Prince built was bright blue

Does this mean that the first god Magnus turned to for help with the Legion's genetic defects was Tzeentch?

Here comes the appearance of the Red Death

This portrayal then points back to Magnus himself, or the dark side within Magnus.

The Red Death sneaks into the crowd and grows stealthily among the legions, and eventually a small leak can sink a great ship,and Thousand Sons legion is destroyed because of Magnus' arrogance

For the prompt of "Costume" nothing fits better than my personal favorite story from Poe, The Mask of the Red Death.

I tried my best to got their look right. Not just a red cloak but an actual blood-soaked shroud. I think I nailed it :)

I Hope that Laika Studios will adapts The Mask of the Red Death made It becoming in Beauty and the Beast style with Happy Ending Just like a Disney Classic(You know? In America are Always Disney since the european navigators Discover the America in 1492 and even the ancestor of Walter Disney was Born in France and Is that because they build Disneyland at Paris) and Hayden Christensen will voice The Mask of the Red Death while Alice Englert will voice the heroine and Marwan Kenzari will voice the Prince Prospero the main antagonist

Just saw a few photos and the poster for a new adaptation of The Fall of the House of Usher.

Horror isn't my thing, so I haven't watched the other 2 shows Mike Flannagan(?) has done...

But whyyyyyy.... whyyyyy would you put The Fall of the House of Usher, The Mask of the Red Death (I suppose because there is oh, so many people! and a mask is used in the poster) and The Raven on a blender + the year 2023 and say that that is an adaptation of just one story? Being 100% honest... why that need to merge them all into a new singular story? (Vincent Price did movies for all of them where there was need to add things -after all this are short stories- and all of them worked).

I would've used just the Mask of the Red Death (maybe using Covid as a backdrop, or something else) and use the already 7 existing rooms in Prince's Prospero castle to center one episode in each one. Every room showing the increasing dehumanization of the guests (allowing themselves to be the worst of the worst because they are rich and in this party there are no rules) + some kind of supernatural event that triggers this behaviour.

The House of Usher could easily work playing with the premise of "is this guy losing his mind or there is something else in this house?" That could be used as an oportunitty to explore the family dinamic and the regrets after the death of the lead's sister.

The Raven is a tricky one. But you could tell the story of a man that put his life on hold on the persuit of something bigger that never came (inmortality, for example)... and now theres a reminder that all the time lost will not come, nevermore.

mers keep their faces covered as a way to indicate social status and familiarity. warriors have intricate masks, handcrafted when they win their first battle and the more detailed a mask is, the more accomplished the wearer is. they're rarely shed and are only taken off for their closest kin and mates

an ideal and worthy mate, so long as he can prove his prowess

so he follows him as he's deployed on a mission near the ocean and is smitten when he sees how ruthless and capable he is; bathing himself in his enemies blood. he keeps his distance, not wanting to tempt fate but ghost spies the tip of his fin cutting through the water

and he's nothing if not an opportunist; kicking the bodies off the pier to the waiting jaws below

but soap? all he sees is the first step in a courting ritual

and he has to come up with something truly brilliant to match such a glorious offering

on ghost's part, it's been difficult getting people to understand the depths of his dependence on his mask. price thinks it's something to overcome, gaz and other soldiers just think it's an accessory to help with intimidation

the few partners he's tried to have thought he was someone to "fix"; nothing more than an object, a notch on their belt to prove how "good" of a partner they were to put in so much work to make him better. it always leaves him feeling violated, more so than if they'd just taken his mask off outright. one night stands were hardly worth it either; scratching a physical itch but falling so short of the intimacy and connection he craves that he feels worse off than he'd started

when he finally meets the mer that's been hunting him across the country, sees the bright red mask so artfully hewn and attached to his face?

it's like looking at a reflection of himself

he might have finally found the understanding he's been searching for

mr guthrie i quite honestly still liked your show but if you say things like this shit it really deters me from listening to it. learn to handle criticism. opinions i and many others share on s4 are just as valid as the point you were trying, because whatever it was it wasnt received.

i was going to give the show another chance for the john pov, but i don't think i want to listen to a show anymore where the creator tries his hardest to deter his fans with pride
